63. Change Of Status

  1. Any person who has been a professional and who desires to be reclassified as an amateur on the grounds that they no longer engage in the activities which made them a professional, must so notify the association in writing.
  2. The applicant must then wait a period of one year from the date their reapplication for amateur status is acknowledged by the association.
  3. After this time period has elapsed, the person may submit to the Board a letter supported by two or more notarized letters from AMA members outlining the applicants activities for said time period and testifying that applicant has not engaged in any activities which would make them a professional.
  4. Information concerning the change of status from professional to amateur or vice versa shall be published in the AMA newsletter.
  5. When an individual, for any reason becomes ineligible for Amateur membership, he or she shall promptly notify AMA office and return membership card. A card will be reissued without the “A” amateur designation on it.
